We are pleased to offer a wonderful vintage doll. She stands 14" tall and was made by the Roberta Doll Co. She is a bridal doll, dressed in what we believe to be her original satin wedding gown, veil and bouquet. She also wears a short, stiff petticoat, satin panties and shoes and socks. We are not certain if any of these are original to the doll or not, but they are as she came to us. The shoes are marked "FAIRYLAND, No. 00" on the underside.
The Roberta Doll Company is probably best known for their 1953 Lu Ann Simms doll. There is not much else known about this doll manufacturer although they were in business from the 1940's to the 1970's. From the research we have been able to do, we estimate this doll to be one of the earliest produced. She may be known as "Roberta Ann" and a hard-to-find model.
This doll is marked on her back "MADE IN U.S.A." and "14" on the neck. She has the sweetest face with blue sleep eyes, red lips with four teeth and tongue. Her hair still retains most of the original set style and is reddish-brown in color. She has blush on her cheeks and knees that we can see. We have not undressed her although what we can see looks very good. Her legs are flexible and move back and forth, as do her arms. Her gown and veil are in very good condition and may brighten up if gently washed.
