This is a striking vintage brooch or pin. It features a yellow gold setting. We tested the gold in this item and it did test positive for 10K although it may be plated or rolled gold.
In the center of the pin is a spectacular large, round, rose cut emerald green rhinestone. This stone is beautifully faceted and prong set, measuring approximately 1" in diameter and is in great condition. It was difficult to capture the beautiful green color in our photographs. There are faux seed pearls set in a channel-like single row around the center stone. Under magnification you can see some peeling to the pearls. The outer edge of the gold setting has six rolled or folded over and curled pieces with a crescent scoop in between each one.
The brooch has a heavy roll-over safety clasp which has a bit of a bend in the pin. The bend does not negatively affect the pin closure function. There is a tiny, tiny bit of movement in the stone but it is not at risk of falling out because of the substantial prongs which hold it in place. The brooch measures approximately 1-5/8" in diameter and is approximately 1/2" high. It weighs a total of 17.6 grams and is in good condition overall.
A very pretty brooch, most likely from the late Art Deco era, circa late 1930's - early 1940's. A beautiful and substantial piece of vintage jewelry!
