We are presenting this lovely vintage porcelain muffineer. These pieces are often used as hat pin holders. Muffineers were used to hold and sprinkle sugar on pastries, muffins, scones, etc.
This piece is hand painted in an Art Deco design. It is signed on the underside of the base: "C.S. PRUSSIA" with a flower of clover leaf as part of the mark. There is another mark, possibly a horse, and the word "PEERLESS".
The muffineer is hexagonal in shape with slightly indented sides. It measures approximately 4-1/4"H x 3"W. It is in good condition with very minor wear to the painted surfaces. There is no stopper or cork for the underside base.
We have identified the maker as Porzellanfabrik Carl Schlegelmilch, circa 1882-1918.
