We are pleased to offer a beautiful and rare Demi-Parure, consisting of a brooch and matching earrings. These pieces were considered high end in their day, made by "dorsons". Dorsons was a jewelry company formed in 1922 in New York, USA by D. Ornstein and Sons. The last record of this company dates back to circa 1950. They were well-known for producing high-end jewelry, mostly set in sterling silver.
This set is just lovely. There is a silver brooch in a swirl shape, possibly a fancy question mark! It is set with clear crystal rhinestones and has a four-strand dangle or tassel suspended from the bottom. The earrings are screw-back style with the same four-dangle tassels. These pieces are housed in the original velvet box with silk lining. The inside of the lid is embossed "JEWELRY BY dorsons".
The brooch and one earring also retain heart-shaped tags which read: "Genuine B-B Product, Guaranteed". On the reverse of each tag is the word "Quality" as well as style numbers and price. We suspect these were the jewelry merchant's tags.
This set is in wonderful condition and appears it was never worn. It has been protected in the box all these years. A few of the rhinestones have darkened a bit with age, nevertheless, the set has beautiful sparkle and is very well made. We have not tested this set for silver content.
The brooch measures approximately 2-3/4" L (including the dangles) x 7/8" W. Each earring measures approximately 1-3/4" L x 1/2" W.
A true vintage jewelry collectible!
