Here is a nice old sterling silver thimble. It is decorated with a very pretty design and marked on the outside: "STERLING" and "11". There is a maker's mark inside the top that is difficult to read. We believe it is a shield mark with an "S" inside the shield. This is Simon's Bros. Co. of Philadelphia, which began business in 1839. The thimble measures approximately 7/8"H and weighs 4.2 grams or 0.15 ounces.
The thimble is in good condition with a few tiny, pin-point holes from use and age.
