We are presenting vintage pince nez eyeglasses or spectacles. They have a plain gold frame with textured nose guards and a short handle with a large oval loop for a chain. The gold tests positive for 14K. The pince nez glasses lock closed and spring open. They contain glass lenses.
Pince Nez Eyeglasses have no arms that go over the ears but instead, they clip on to the nose. Thus, their name Pince Nez which in French means pincer, to pinch, and nose. Pince Nez spectacles reached their peak popularity around 1885 and were very popular until around 1920. During their prime, they accounted for over two-thirds of all eyeglasses worn in the United States.
The pince nez are in very good condition and can be fitted with your own eyeglass prescription.
