Included in this listing are: "The Saggy Baggy Elephant", a Little Golden Book. This particular copy of the book was the Eighteenth Printing in 1969. The original copyright date for this story was 1947. This copy is complete and in very, very good condition.
Also included in this listing is a wonderful vintage child's handkerchief: "The Saggy Baggy Elephant". It is marked at the lower hem: "A GOLDEN BOOK DESIGN BY GUSTAF TENGGREN". There is another mark which has the copyright symbol and "S & S" and "A & W". The hankie is in very good condition as well. There is one pin hole in one of the top corners, which looks like someone may have had it displayed at one time and secured with a tack or pin and another tiny pin hole along the top hem. Neither of these detract from this charming hanky, but mentioned for accuracy. We see no stains and there are no odors. It measures approximately 9" square.
Gustaf Tenggren was a Swedish-American illustrator. He is known for his fairy-tales and use of silhouetted figures with caricatured faces. Tenggren was a chief illustrator for The Walt Disney Company in the late 1930s, in what has been called the Golden Age of American animation, when animated feature films such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, Bambi and Pinocchio were produced.
A great set for a special child or for your collection!
