Civil War Era Photograph Case with Tin TypeCivil War Era Photograph Case with Tin TypeCivil War Era Photograph Case with Tin Type

We are offering a wonderful photograph case with Tin Type. It was made of papier mache with a wood frame. The photograph is of a younger man with a hat and a bow tie. His left hand grasps the lapel of his coat. He has large dark eyes and heavy brows. He strikes a serious and confident pose.

The case has a rust colored velvet pad on the left side. It is nicely decorated with an urn, overflowing with leaves and fruit. The photograph is housed under glass and fairly simply decorated in gold.

The front and back of the case are decorated the same with a decorative urn inside an oval. The oval is surrounded with loops, swirls and leaves.

The case measures approximately 2-7/8" x 2-3/8". It closes with a brass clasp. Overall, this case is in very good condition, showing minimal wear consistent with the age and materials used.
