This is a fantastic and rare beauty created in the 1960's by Kenneth Jay Lane and bears the old signature "K.J.L." that authenticates the origins. I've never seen this gorgeous piece before and just had to have it when it came up for purchase. The brooch features a huge, reddish-pink faceted crystal in its center and the color is simply scrumptious. This gorgeous stone is surrounded and overlapped with brown enameled coral branches and is then interspersed with bezel set clear baguette rhinestones. Oooh la la and hurray for Kenneth Jay Lane and his remarkable sense of design and style.
The brooch measures a generous 3 inches in diameter and is in very good vintage condition with almost all of the enamel present and free from chipping. The piece is signed "K.J.L." in a plaque on the back.
