This brooch is absolutely incredible. Rare and highly desirable, this pin was made for Coro in the 1940's and is featured in "Jewels of Fantasy" on page 175 and on page 179 in "American Costume Jewelry Vol 1" by Brunialti. The pin features a beautifully enameled lizard with a large egg (faux pearl) in its mouth. It's truly quite stunning!
The brooch measures 2-3/4 inches in length and 1-3/4 inches in width. It is in very good vintage condition, with the enamel showing very little wear. The rhinestones are all present and appear to be original. They show quite a bit of greying and or yellowing. The faux pearl shows some bumpy areas but the nacre is free from chips. The pin is signed Sterling Craft Coro in a plaque on the underside.
