This lovely piece is purported to date from the 1880's and has its origins in Italy. The necklace features the face of a woman carved from coral and mounted in a 14 karat gold setting. A delicate frame made of tiny beads and artful floral shapes enhance the loveliness of the cameo. Coral beads dangle gracefully from the mounting and the pendant hangs from a delicate 14 kt gold chain that is interspersed with coral beads that echo the coral dangles. The clasp has some sort of marking, but I am unable to make it out and the piece is otherwise unmarked. The chain measures 25 inches in length and the pendant measures 2-1/4 inches in height by 1 inch in width. A lovely and delicate treasure from the past.
