Pennino created exceptional pieces during the 1940s, and this lovely brooch is a wonderful example of their artistry during this period. This magnificent piece depicts realistic looking sterling vermeil leaves with rhinestone encrusted berries dangling from their stems. Like many of the Pennino pieces of this era, the brooch has a good deal of heft, weighing in at 52 grams (1.85 oz). I've seen many Pennino pieces, but haven't seen this particular design before, and its quite spectacular.
The brooch measures 3-1/4 inches in height and 3 inches in width at its widest point. It is in excellent vintage condition, with all stones present and with the silver close to pristine. It is signed "Sterling Pennino" on the back.
