This perfume burner is just stunning with its beautiful colors and outstanding floral motif. In my personal opinion no one does cameo glass better than Daum! The body of the perfume burner starts out as solid purple on its footed base and graduates into a beautiful mottled blending of deep lavenders into ice white. The body also has a textured, granulated finish from the acid cut back work. The footed base and the raised cameo pattern all have a high polished surface. The foot and the base scroll like pattern have been enameled with gold accent. The wonderful flower motif has been enameled with shades of green, lavender to purple, pastel pink to burgundy and the occasional gold highlight.
The glass is in excellent plus condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, abrasions or repairs. It's condition is so outstanding that I can only find a couple of those 1/64 inch and one 1/32 inch flea bites. The rims on the foot, neck and lid are all the originals with out repair. The bottom of the burner contains the polished pontil and enameled Daum Nancy hallmark. The enamel is in excellent minus condition. There is some minute loss to the gold on the bottom scroll pattern (see photo # 9) as is common with gold highlight. The shaded green enamel shows some loss on the body's bulge rim, base of the neck and base of the lid. See photo # 9 for the spot having the most loss. You can also find the occasional speck of loss as is normal and expected to the flowers and buds. The rope like wick and its metal frame are modern replacements.
The perfume burner stands 4 inches tall and is approximately 3 inches in diameter through the body's bulge. A fabulous piece of art glass, in an extremely rare shape, by a famous French company that would be an outstanding addition to a perfume burner or cameo glass collection.
