Signed 14 KT Gold Open Work Hat Pin With Cultured Baroque Pearl Accent - Circa 1910
This lovely hat pin is comprised of four curved leaf patterns with fleur-de-lis tops inter-spaced with open work that are repeated around the decor bulb of the hat pin. Used as an accent at the top of the hat pin you will find a prong mounted Baroque pearl.
The gold is in excellent condition with no cracks, holes, rips, deep scratches/abrasions or repairs. Each of the four motifs have wonderful curves, soft bulges and definition lines giving the bulb lovely dimension. The ivory colored Baroque pearl has no cracks or chips and is firmly seated in it's prong mounting. The attachment of the decor top to the pin stick is correct. The hat pin is original and has always been a hat pin.
There is a gold content and makers mark on one of the curved feet at the base of the bulb (photo # 7). With the position of the pin stick and the curve to the foot it was impossible to get a clear photo. The mark reads "14" and what appears to possibly be a W. Rich has acid tested the hat pin and will guarantee a minimum of 14 KT gold.
The bulb top of the pin measures approximately 1 1/4 inches tall X 13/16 inches at it's widest point. A very large size for a gold hat pin. With the pin stick the hat pin measures 10 3/16 tall. Every hat pin collection should contain at least one gold pin and this would be a lovely choice for the collection.
