This delightful hand painted miniature cup & saucer is a salesman sample. The background color to the exterior of the cup and to the flowers is white while the floral colors are vivid and bright. There are two background colors to the majority of the gold decoration. A medium green some would call spring and others mint, with the second color being a pastel yellow. As you can see on the exterior of the cup only the pastel yellow was used. The porcelain is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, nasty scratches/abrasions or repairs. The glaze has almost no crazing. The floral work is wonderfully in intact. The gold decoration is all original, nicely intact and bright. There are some occasional tiny spots on the saucer where the gold has a gray cast. This happens on this type of gold as it is subject to wear, chemicals and hand oil as it is painted on top of the glaze. The hallmark is the same on both pieces and is for the 1906 to sometime in the 1930's. Per info I read on Staffordshire marks the "Made in England" dates the sample to after 1915 hence the circa date of 1925. The saucer is 2 3/16" in dia. and the cup's top rim is 1 1/2" in dia.
