This delightful hand painted miniature cup & saucer is a salesman sample. The background color is white while the roses have lovely shades from pastel to a hint of dark color. The blue is a vivid navy accented with bright gold without being gaudy. The porcelain is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, nasty scratches/abrasions or believed repairs. The glaze has some spots of crazing as is normal. The artistry is nicely in intact. If you loupe the floral artistry you can see the outlines for the painter to place the decoration. These are outlines only not missing flowers! We feel the gold decoration is all original, again nicely intact and bright. There is a 3/8" x less then 1/32" wide spot on the cup rim's outer edge where the curve is somewhat flat and the gold has a faint different tone. After close viewing with a 10 power loupe we feel this was an original touch up by the company. The hallmark is almost the same on both pieces as the cup has the beginning of the swiggle portion of the mark while the saucer does not. The mark is for the 1906 to sometime in the 1930's. As there was no room for additional portions pertaining to England we gave a middle circa of 1920. The saucer is 2 3/16" in dia. and the cup's top rim is 1 1/2" in dia.
