This pin of a high end antique touring car is delightful and has been done with superb detail. Note the lanterns, headlights and steering wheel as well as the red leather upholstery and seating for 4 to 5 people. There is even a pattern under the red enamel giving the illusion of some form of pleating or rolled tuck in the upholstery. The car has then been done in a wonderful dark evergreen color and dark gray on the wheels for the tires. This quality made pin would be a super present for an antique car club member!
The gold is in excellent plus condition with no rips, dents, holes, cracks, scratches, abrasions or repairs. The pin hinge, pin stick and C clasp are all original in smooth working order. The pin stick is nicely straight with a good point. Near the point appears to be a few rub marks from gold testing. The backside of the pin has lovely engraving for a previous owner "JEAN" as well as some faint scratch marks of letters and numbers. In days of old the jewelers would scratch their inventory codes and work order numbers on the backside of jewelry.
The enamel is done in the flow on style so it is not perfectly contained within raised walls. It is also in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, nicks, nasty scratches/abrasions or repairs. As it is flow on enamel, with a loupe you can find the occasional spot of overflow into an area or uneven edges. This is normal for this form of enameling. The colors have wonderful depth with the green and red having a touch of pizazz due to a subtle and attractive shine from their top coat.
The backside of the pin as well as the C clasp have the 14K purity mark. The pin measures just a hair under 1" long x 7/16" at it's tallest points and weighs 4.6 grams.
