This lovely ring is the classic "halo" design that has been used by jewelers for 100's of years. We have an oval coral cabochon that is a lovely deep salmon in color surrounded by 18 small (1pt.) diamonds. I checked the gold color in natural light and it is that beautiful mellow, rich colored gold usually found in old jewelry. But as we can not guarantee it to be antique it is listed as vintage.
The gold is in excellent condition with no cracks, rips, dents, holes, nasty scratches, ugly abrasions or repairs. One prong for the cabochon may have been repaired but if it was it does not appear to have been replaced as nothing obvious shows at it's base nor in the color of the gold. There are also two spots on the shank (see last photo) where less experience people did gold tests. But the shank still has very good density and is nicely round. The 7/16" x 5/16" cabochon is also excellent with no cracks, scratches or abrasions. It is firmly seated in it's pronged mounting and stands a hair over 1/8" tall. The ring contains a total of 18 - 1pt. diamonds for a total of 18pts. All of the diamonds are there and appear to be the originals. They have been inspected with a 10 power loupe and are well matched in color being white with nice brightness and sparkle. None are that ugly gray or opaque coloration. I did find some fissures or scratches as well as a couple chips with the loupe that I am reporting to be accurate. But these flaws are far too small to be seen with your eyes.
The ring has a purity mark of 14K on the interior of the shank. Rich has also acid tested and will guarantee a minimum of 14kt. On the size pole it is an 8 with the top decor area being approx. 9/16" tall x 1/2" wide.
