Shiebler was especially noted for his medallion items that were inspired by the excavations at Pompeii & Herculaneum. We are very pleased to be able to offer this circa 1890 pin as well as a sterling/gold mixed metal bracelet (Item 376) & a sterling Greek god bracelet (Item 882) at this time.
The sterling is in excellent plus condition with no rips, dents, cracks, holes, deep scratches or repairs. Those spots in the photos that look like chomps on rims are all part of the patterns. The pin stick, it's hinge & the C clasp are all original in working order. The pin stick does have some wave to it from usage. The pin's pattern definition is excellent & very crisp thru out with one exception that is a makers flaw. The end right side medallion has some flat surface to the hair. When viewed with a 10 power loupe it appears that this medallion's mold had some form of interior obstruction.
The marks are on the backside of the pin as can be seen in the photo. The actual pin portion measures approx. 3 1/8" long x 11/16" tall. With the medallion dangles the pin is approx 1 3/8" tall. A super pin for a Shiebler collection with it's famous medallion motif. But it will be a great conversation piece being worn by either a man or woman.
