This super vanity jar is screaming Art Deco with it's red and black enameled silver lid. In the center under glass is a print of a Deco lady looking into her mirror. The glass jar is designed with two different vertical alternating cut patterns on it's side and a standard cut star on it's base. The first pattern is of three raised vertical faceted ridges. The two outer ones are the borders for the second pattern of a recessed curved panel.

The glass is in excellent plus condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, nasty scratches, ugly abrasions or repairs. The top rim is all intact, smooth to the touch and has a thin beveled outer edge. I also ran my finger over the side pattern panels. I found one ridge panel that had a little rough spot. But I had to use a 10 power loupe to see the speck sized bite. The three faceted ridges measure 3/16" wide. The recessed panel measures 7/16" wide. The glass cover to the print has no chips, cracks, scratches or abrasions and has a beveled outer rim.

The enamel is all intact with no nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, abrasions or repairs. If you use the loupe you can find a couple speck sized bites or a faint 1/32" surface only scratch. This jar was definitely a prized possession and well taken care of ! The print is all intact with no rips or water damage. On my monitor my photo of her is accurate with pale peach toned skin and light blond hair. The silver is excellent minus with well rounded original rims. The only thing I found to report was right at the front area, on the large rounded rim, under her neck. It is a small area of scattered abrasion that appears to have tarnish in it's faint surface.

The entire jar measures just under 3 1/2" tall. It has a 3 3/4" dia. lid at it's widest point. The actual jar is 3 1/2" in dia. and 3" tall. The glass cover over the print is a hair over 1 3/4" in dia. The marks are on the interior of the lid. It has a French #1 Minerva for 950 silver and what appears to be a very partial makers mark. It was evidently acquired at some point by probably an Austrian jeweler or store who engraved it with "Sterling Silver 935" as well as their very faintly engraved inventory number. We have had some very nice European powder jars in the past but this one is flat out stunning.
