This necklace had a lot of thought put into it's deceptively simple design. The bright gold mounting reminds me somewhat of wings. It has four swirling curlicues on it's edge rims and smaller, more curled, lightly raised curlicues in the recessed interior of the wings. Also contributing to it's design is a fine granulated surface on the front of the mounting. The necklace then has an addition of 8 super shaped Mississippi river pearls on the mounting and two more as accents at the top of the chain swags. As a final touch we have a collar mounted faceted amethyst gemstone at center top.

The gold is in excellent plus condition with no cracks, rips, dents, holes, nasty scratches/abrasions or repairs. The chain is the original without repair. The closure is a spring ring in smooth working order. The amethyst is collar mounted with no chips or cracks to it's faceted surface. It is a subtle slightly smokey lavender in color.

The pearls are fabulous with their different shapes. They are nicely matched in an off white color, have no cracks or chips and have been viewed with a 10 power loupe. River pearls are somewhat like baroque pearls being irregular in shape with recessed areas, bumps and spots of less shine to nacre. So if you think you are seeing a chip in a photo you are not. The approx. 3.5mm pearl at the top of the swag on the right side of photo # 6 has some missing nacre that I am reporting to be accurate. The pearls on the necklace are spike mounted. They are firm in their attachments and you can see some evidence of old discolored glue at their top rims which would be expected after all these years. The two pearls at the chain swags are attached in the standard way by a gold link inserted thru their centers.

There are no gold purity marks so Rich has acid tested and will guarantee a minimum of 14kt. The winged mounting measures 1 5/16" tall from the top of the amethyst to the base of the dangling pearl x 1 1/2" wide with the chain measuring a total of 17" long.
