This ring has a lovely almost aquamarine color to the synthetic spinel. The stone is done in a modified emerald cut and is clear with nice brightness. It is collar mounted in a 14 kt. gold ring whose top shape mirrors the shape of the stone. This is a beautifully hand made mounting, built from many separate pieces, not a simple casting. The four sides contain small curlicues and each corner has a gracefully curved band with lightly accented interior ridges. Supporting the top portion of the mounting is a base frame with elongated curlicues in each of the four sides.
The synthetic stone is in excellent minus condition with no deep scratches, nasty abrasions or chips. The facet rims do have roughness hence the minus rating. But with the stone's very nice brightness you need a loupe to see it. The gold is in excellent condition with no cracks, dents, broken/missing pieces, scratches, abrasions or repairs. The original shank has a nice even depth and a very good, round shape. The interior rim of the shank has a 585 mark which is European for 14kt. gold. The stone measures approx. 9/16" long x 7/16" wide. On the ring pole the size of the ring is an approx. 7 1/2.
