18Kt. Three Color Gold Amethyst Ring with Diamond Accent - Circa 1945
This Retro period ring has a great look with it's large emerald cut amethyst, 6 small diamond accents and it's rose, yellow and white gold. The rings mounting is rose gold. The two sets of curlicues on the side of the amethyst are yellow gold and there is a thin layer of white gold on the mounting for underneath the 6 small diamonds. A beautiful and tasteful Retro ring as so many from the period can be over the top!
The gold is in excellent plus condition with no rips, dents, holes, nasty scratches, abrasions or repairs. The amethyst is done in an emerald cut. It is a lovely color, clean and bright and very well seated in it's prongs. It has no chips, nicks, cracks, scratches or abrasions. If you inspect with a 10 power loupe you will find a couple of those smaller then minute surface scratches or flea bites to a rim, not at all visible with your eyes. The amethyst measures approx. 11/16" long x 1/2' wide and stands 1/8" above it's diamond accents. The 6 small round diamonds are brilliant cut and weigh a total of .25 ct. They are prong mounted in a rectangle of white gold with mil-grained rims, are white in color and have a nice sparkle.
The interior of the shank has an 18K mark but no makers mark. On my ring size pole it measures as a 7 1/2. My last photo is of an amethyst bracelet/earring set, Item 730, that we have listed. Even though the ring is primarily rose gold it goes very well with the set due to so little of the rose showing because of the placement of the gemstones.
