This 20's ring is delightful and can be hard to find. The ring mounting is sterling as well as that extremely well defined center decoration of a basket of flowers. Thru the center of the basket as well as at the 12-3-6-9 o'clock positions you will find marcasite accents. In the center of the ring is an oval cabochon of rock crystal (clear quartz) that's backside has been intaglio cut with a ray pattern. The final accent is four channels of black enamel around the outer rim of the mounting.
The sterling is in excellent plus condition with no cracks, rips, dents, holes, nasty scratches, abrasions or repairs. The ring shank has been professionally sized once during the rings life and is now a size 4 on my ring pole. The rock crystal is a bit cloudy but the ray pattern does definitely show. With a 10 power loupe you can see it is quartz, not glass, as the top shows it's minute porous stone surface and polish marks. The marcasites are three different sizes and all appear to be original. Of the 15 stones 14 have no chips or cracks. One of three minute (a hair smaller then 1/32") marcasites in the basket has a crack. All four channels for enamel have different degrees of missing enamel but none is down to base sterling. The channels measure approx. 1/4" long x 1/32" wide. The one at 10 o'clock has a flea bite and the ones at 1 and 4 have some side edge surface chips. The last photo is the one at 7. It has it's whole top surface chipped.
The interior of the shank has the remains of a makers mark of STERLING with the R being enlarged. The oval top of the ring measures approx. 7/8" tall x 3/4" at widest point and as stated before is a size 4.
