This delightful 4 1/4" tall oval frame is an exact duplicate of it's larger counterparts. Note the lovely floral engraving surrounding almost the entire rim. The only spot not engraved is that top area left blank to engrave the owners initials. This small example even has art nouveau openwork feet at the frame's base.
The sterling is in excellent minus overall condition with no rips, holes, dents, nasty scratches, abrasions or repairs. I found an approx. 1" long spot on the top's side edge with uneven surface. If you look at the first photo between the 12:00 and 1:00 o'clock positions you can see a bit of uneven rim. The last photo shows a close up of the edge as well as the top rim. The presentation area has never been engraved with initials. The floral engraving is in excellent condition plus. It is even in depth, well defined and has a lot of fine accent lines. The foot is firmly attached and I can see the joint solders. I don't know if they are the originals or if they have been beefed up. The fabric backside and easel have been redone probably in the last 20 years or so. I can see a couple tiny hints of loss of nap to the fabric. The easel hinge was definitely replaced and is very sturdy and works extremely well. The frame is very stable and stands firmly in place with no rocking. There is glass in the frame of unknown age that is in excellent condition. It has no abrasions on it's surface. There is a very fine line 1/4" long surface scratch you can see when frame is held at just the right angle.
The foot has the "STERLING" mark and a model number of "846". The frame stands 4 1/4" tall x 3" wide x almost 2 1/2" deep at base. The photo area is 3 3/16" tall x 2 1/4" wide. A lovely small antique frame for that small photo you cherish.
