This master salt has wonderful design. The dolphin has a great shape with that beautiful curve to his tail and a great face. The tail is then attached to a large shell balanced and adhered to his back. As a final attention to detail both the shell and dolphin have texture giving the illusion of a ripple surface on the shell and scales on the dolphin. Under the dolphin there is even the illusion of soft waves in the water. We have two of these adorable master salts available at this time. They are both white and of the same pattern. They differ in their dates of manufacture and some of the definition to the detailing on the shell and dolphin. We believe they were made from 2 different molds.
The bone china is in excellent plus condition with no cracks, nicks, chips, scratches, abrasions or repairs. The rims on both of the shells have been viewed with a 10 power loupe and are all original. The rims on the foot of both salts have been viewed and are also all original.
Photo's 1-8 are of the 1963 salt. It is the green mark with the R and 13 dots. The edge on the shell is more pointed and it's dolphin scales and shell ripples are more in quantity and have a touch more depth. The base has a solid bottom.
Photo's 9 & 10 are of the 1955 salt. It also has the green mark with the W and 5 dots. It's shell edge is more rounded (again viewed with a loupe) and it's scales and ripples have less depth and can be less visible to not visible in some areas. The base has an open interior.
Both salts measures 4 1/2" tall (top of tail) x 4 1/2" long (base rim to tail) x 4 1/4" deep (shell rim to rim). They are being sold individually.
