This necklace is so cool and very versatile being white and yellow gold. Ladies think Slinky toys and guys think coil springs, one white and one gold wound together into a form of rope. With your eyes you think each of the two colored coils making up the rope have been grooved with fine delicate lines. But when you use a loupe you will find that the grooves of those coils are actually extremely fine (approx. 1/64") gold wire. Just an amazing form of gold manufacture!
The gold is in excellent condition with no rips, dents, holes, breaks or repairs. I have ran my fingers over the rope in both directions looking for broken wires and nothing drags or stabs me. The rope is firmly attached to both closure ends, again no broken wires are evident. The necklace has a very interesting and inventive closure. Both ends are caps with one cap fitting over the other. The top cap has a slit that fits vertically then twists horizontally to lock the caps closed. The marks are on the top cap as seen in the photo. A "DG" maker mark and "14kt" gold content. The necklace weighs 25 grams of 14 kt gold. It measures 16 1/4" long and the rope is approx. 1/4" wide. Rich feels the necklace is from the latter portion of the last quarter of the 20th century. A really interesting and novel necklace that we acquired from a dealer who got it from an estate. It will definitely get you some compliments!
