This painted metal mesh bag is in fabulous condition with a great design. It is done with rich, deep colors in a combination of turquoise, auburn, mahogany and touches of metallic gold with a flesh tone background. The frame is comprised of several different patterns that compliment each other as well as the painted design with the primary subject being running and swirling leaves.
The paint is in excellent condition with a guess of 99.8 % there. Pattern & depth of paint color is identical on both sides. The bag was never hung in sunlight to fade or bake paint. With my eyes I find no rips, tears, missing mesh. When inspecting with my loop the wire holding the mesh to frame is all original & intact with no breaks. I did find the occasional spot where the wire was not run thru the mesh connectors. This appears to be on purpose to assist with the drape of the mesh. The underarms (area under frame hinges) are free of rips, tears and holes. The holes you see in the photos are original to manufacture so when the bag is closed it is not pooched out, does not get caught in a hinge and drapes correctly at the underarm.
The stamped pattern frame is all intact with no rips, dents, holes, rust or repairs. The frame is plated with lovely even coloration and brightness. The one exception to the plate condition is the double ball closure. With your eyes you will find base metal color showing due to opening and closing the bag. The closure is firm with a definite click. The chain is in excellent condition & is original with fairly even color. All strands of chain fringe are there with just two definitely missing approx. 5 minute links each. All strands have a lovely even coloration that compliments the frame.
The Mandalian hallmark is on a top interior rim of the frame as well as the remains of a paper tag with an inventory or collection serial number. The size is 7 3/4" from closure to fringe bottom. From top of chain to fringe bottom is 12 5/8". Widest point is almost 3 3/4" across top of frame. This is a beautiful bag in lovely condition at a great price
