This love token bracelet is so cool and in fabulous condition with of course the coins no longer having value except as decoration. It contains seven "Seated Liberty Dimes" with dates of 1853, 1865, 1860, two of 1876 and two of 1858. There is also one "Capped Bust Half Dime" dated 1835. They are all professionally and securely attached to a narrow, 1/8" wide, silver bangle that has a running leaf pattern.
The silver bangle is a true bangle that slips on (no hinge). It has no cracks, rips, dents, holes, nasty scratches/abrasions or repairs. It's shape is a nice fairly even oval as can be seen in the photos. It's running leaf pattern is equally well defined around the bangle. The interior oval measures approx. 2 5/8" wide x 2 1/8 at tallest point. It has no silver content marks so Rich acid tested and will guarantee a minimum of 900 silver.
The coins as stated previously have no value as coins. This is due to their backs being polished down to enable engraving on their backsides. The front of the coins have a variety of different amounts of wear. The "Capped Bust" is 890 silver and the Seated Liberty is 900 silver per a coin website and both coins measure approx. 11/16" in dia. One of the 1858 coins is on backwards-meaning when I see seven coins the eight one is showing the engraved initial. No idea why, can only guess it was the owners initial?? All of the engraving is done in Old English style. The odd facing initial (photo 4) is either an I or J. The seven remaining initials are: (photo 6) J-W and Coin face-B ; (photo 7) O-A and H-L. As you can see from the photos the engraved letters are very well defined.
This is the oldest American made love token item we have ever purchased. A really great bracelet for that woman who enjoys distinctive and interesting antique jewelery.
