This Kerr buckle has wonderful design, pattern definition and dimension. But this is to be expected as Kerr was one of the foremost Art Nouveau silver companies and quite equal to Unger in their small items.
The sterling is in excellent condition without cracks, rips, dents, holes, nasty scratches, abrasions or repairs. The hinge on the back bar is smooth moving with total 180 degree movement. The pattern definition is great with fine lines remaining for the illusion of texture and dimension in the flower petals and stems. Even better is the tiny fine lines accenting the lily pad under the large flower. The dimension on this buckle is fabulous that large flower standing a little over 1/2" high from the backside of the buckle to top of flower! The buckle is quite substantial and will not dent or bend if used. The construction of the buckle is correct to allow the buyer to make a "one of a kind" leather belt.
The marks are on the backside of the buckle as seen in the photo-Kerr hallmark, STERLING, and a design number 994. The buckle measures 2 5/8" long x a hair under 2 1/2" at tallest point. A beautiful example of floral Art Nouveau to use as a fashion accessory or for your collection.
