The guilloche enamel on the top of the sterling lid is a lovely baby blue and done in what I would have to describe as a setting sun pattern. The sun is comprised of tiny rows of alternating diamonds that from a distance look like evenly spaced dots. The rays of the sun are made up of waving lines with every 6th. line being wider giving it a deeper color. But what is even cooler is an additional ray feature where the downward curve on the wave looks as though it is con-caved and the upwards curve looks to be con-vexed-a truly inspired illusion!. The glass bottle is a nice sized rectangle in shape with hand finished beveled rims on all sides, including the top and bottom. We have 2 of these bottles listed and the price is for 1 but you may buy one or both-your choice.

The sterling is in excellent condition with no rips, dents, holes, deep scratches or abrasions. The lid is a screw on and the threads on the lid as well as the bottle collar are intact with no stripping. I have had the lids off both bottles several times and had a problem only once where I evidently did not have the lid aligned properly. Both lids have their cork inserts that are intact with no cork missing. The enamel is also excellent with no nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, abrasions or repairs. Tilting for best angle of light I didn't even see flea bites.

The glass is excellent with no nicks, chips, cracks, nasty scratches, abrasions or repairs. All of the beveled rims appear to be the original. I have run my fingers over every rim on both bottles and only found a couple of flea bites. Both bottles have what appear to be their original glass stoppers also in excellent condition. One stopper has a tiny approx. 1/16" chip to the base of the side rim on the plug (see photo) which is no big deal.

Both lids have identical marks of: FS.LD. (Finnigans Ltd - maker), A (date mark - 1937). Lion (sterling) and Leopard (London). The collars also have identical marks of the Lion and the Leopard. The bottles measure approx. 4 1/2" tall X 2 5/8" wide X 1 11/16" deep. Super bottles to use and fill with cologne, after shave, fine bath salts or lotion in the master bath. They would also look great in your guest bath even filled with pale blue water for just decoration.
