This amazing lamp is so beautiful with it's shades of a pastel pink to cranberry floral & butterfly pattern in cameo. From viewing the base it appears to have originally been blown in three colors-clear, then medium cranberry & then white (top most color). Webb used the white for borders. The shade has two at the top & one at the base. The font (bottom half that is the oil reservoir) of the lamp has one at the neck & two at the base. They then cut back the white on the cameo pattern. The extremely experienced work master left a variety of different depths of white on top of the cranberry to create multiple shades of pink. At the deepest points of the cameo pattern work you can see the medium cranberry. The definition lines are of multiple depths giving the flowers & leaves wonderful dimension & life. This use of the multiple depth of white & cranberry combined with the definition lines of the pattern has resulted in a stunning, multi shaded piece of cameo glass artwork. Webb also cut back the white & cranberry to the clear for the background/base of the glass. They then treated it to give it a soft, frosted, satin like finish. The glass is in all over excellent plus condition with no chips, cracks, scratches or repairs. You can find the occasional, normal, original to manufacture acid pit. With a loop you can tell the difference of an acid pit vs a nick! The bottom rim of the lamp & both rims of the shade are all original with no touch ups. You can find the normal, original to manufacture speck or minute line of irregularity from the hand cutting & polishing of the rims. The bottom rim of the shade has a couple 1/32" flea bites from insertion into the hardware. The frosted background has a couple of those pesky 1/64" & smaller flea bites, specks of an impurity or speck sized internal bubbles. I did find a 1/32" black impurity in the bottom of the lamp's white rims at the base. It is probably cinder or ash acquired when glass was blown. The lamp's hardware appears to be the original. It is marked "The Silber Light Comp.". It is a plated white metal. The plate is an excellent, even toned, bronze color. The neck piece of the hardware is firmly seated to lamp. The threads on the hardware are in excellent, smooth, working condition. The dial for wick adjustment moves smoothly & adjusts wick up & down. The teeth for holding the chimney are all there with none broken. We believe the clear glass chimney to be the original. It is clear & brite. It has no cracks, deep scratches or repairs. It has it's original blown bottom & hand cut top rims. The top rim has two tiny chips & a nick. The chips are approx 1/16" long x 1/32" tall. The nick is approx 1/64". The chimney fits firmly into hardware. It inserts & removes with excellent drag & a thud like click. The acid cut mark is on the bottom of the lamp. It reads: THOS. WEBB & SONS CAMEO". The lamp measures 8 1/4" tall. With the chimney it is 9 7/8" tall. The shade has a 2 7/16" top dia. & is 3 5/8" at it's widest point. The bottom of the lamp has a 2 11/16" base dia. & is approx 3 3/4 at it's widest point. A truly magnificent and very rare example of a miniature Webb cameo oil lamp in superb condition.
