This set has super design as well as being of wonderful quality and appears to have been rarely used. All 3 pieces have the rounded handle to allow a little hand a firm grip. Through the entire front and back of the handle you find a pattern of a lightly raised outer frame. Starting at the top of the front design you find a well depicted spider web above an open cut out. This cut out allows a much clear view of the spider hanging down it's side as well as the startled "Miss Muffet" throwing her hands in the air. Below her you find a grassy surface and raised lettering giving us the title of our set. Note the wonderful expression on her face as well as the fine detailing through out ALL of the pattern components (photos 3 thru 5). Even the spider is amazing! The backside of the handle has an elongated oval area with soft curlicues at it's top and bottom to accent the presentation area. All 3 pcs. have been engraved with a nice flowing initial "Z".
None of the pieces have any rips, dents, holes, deep scratches, abrasions or repairs. On the plain, un-patterned surfaces you can find some of the normal faint surface only scratches from gentle use and old style cleaners. The fork tines are well shaped and aligned with their nice original blunt ends. The bowl of the spoon has great shape and a smooth rim. The pusher has a nice straight line to the shovel. None of the pieces have nasty spots to hurt a baby's mouth.
Both marks are located at the back bottom of the handle. The fork measures 3 1/4", the spoon 3 5/8" and the pusher 2 3/16" long. From the frame at the top of the spider web to the base of the T in Muffet is 2 1/4" with the widest point of the design being 5/8". A beautifully designed, well made set for your collection or a lovely antique christening present.
