The Loves Dream pattern is Cupid, or Eros as he can be called, kissing Psyche. It is Art Nouveau at some of it's most romantic & was probably Unger's most popular pattern with Psyche sleeping in the clouds of dreamland being sweetly kissed by Cupid.. Although there is no Unger mark on the lid we do believe this jar to be made by Unger for several reasons. First, the only time we have seen Loves Dream dresser items (in 40+ years of business) they were made by Unger or had English marks. The jar base is the zipper cut-again this was a jar used by Unger. The pattern is exact, and I mean exact, to Unger's version. And lastly it was common for high end jewelers/department stores to request no makers marks on items so they could sell them as "Exclusive", hence the Sterling mark instead of 925 Fine with UB.

The sterling is in excellent condition with no rips, cracks, holes, dents, scratches, abrasions or repairs. The lid has been held to the light and no holes were found. The rim is well rounded with just a couple pin point/minute sized surface indentations. The lid fits with excellent drag on and off and stays on when jar is lightly shaken. There is no doubt that this lid was matched to this jar! The pattern definition is excellent plus, very much visible with great height and dimension, well rounded and deep curves with even the background clouds being plainly seen. You will find just a tiny bit of loss to fine accent lines in their hair due to old-style abrasive cleaners.

The jar is the zipper cut pattern-my last photo is one I keep on file to show a perfect example of the pattern. This pattern always seems to have some form of damage to the facet rims ranging from just a little to absolute disasters that we won't buy! On our jar (photos # 3 & 6) you will find rough rims to most of the un-patterned facets. On the pattern facets you can find some nicks and tiny chips/flakes with the largest being a flake measuring an approximate 3/16" by 3/32". But the glass has no no large chips, cracks, scratches or abrasions. It is clear and bright with no haze, fog or cloudiness.

The mark of "STERLING" is on the side rim of the lid as seen in photo # 5. The jar measures approximately 2 inches tall and has a 2 inch diameter through it's widest point being the center of the jar.
