This Gorham napkin ring may have a repeating simple pattern but retains a quality of design and weight that is expected being Gorham. The top and bottom border pattern is the textured wood vine with it's hanging clusters of grapes. Both the clusters and vines have nice dimension. The un-patterned interior of the ring is comprised of a soft concave curve ( see photo # 4) giving an elegance to the rings shape and an area for presentation. The front contains the name "Dorothy" and is done in a lovely and very readable script. The ring is in excellent condition and has great shape being within 1/32" of perfect roundness-it was used but not abused. Those visible bulges at the top rim from the grape clusters gives an illusion of being out of round in the photos. You will find as can be expected faint surface scratching from use and old style cleaners. But there are no cracks, holes, rips, nasty dents, deep scratches or repairs. The marks are on the interior and can be seen in the insert on photo #4. They include the Gorham date mark for 1905. The ring is very substantial - good and sturdy - weighing 2.13 ozs. It measures 1 5/8" at it's tallest point with a 1 3/4" diameter.
