This delightful pin has a lovely floral motif that is tastefully accented with pearls on all of it's design components. Every one of the seven leaves has one or two half pearls in it's interior. The five petals of the flower as well as the bud also contain half pearls with the center of the flower having a full round pearl. This sweet gold and pearl motif has then been applied to a gold safety pin style mounting.
The design motif is firmly attached to the pin with original joints. The pin stick is fairly straight with a good point and the C clasp is original. The pearls are an original to design mix of what appears to be four or five sizes as well as a mix of silver to cream tones. The pearls have no cracks or chips. The round pearl in the center of the flower may be a replacement. But it is impossible to tell for sure if any of the pearls are replacements on the pin.
The only marks on the pin are stamped on the backside of the floral motif. The 1st mark is an RD with the D being smaller and underlined. It is either an American makers mark or stands for Registration (an English form of patent mark). The 2nd mark is a number of 58494 which is either a model number or the registration number which is from 1911. The pin has no gold content marks so Rich has acid tested and will guarantee a minimum of 14 kt as acid will not give a definite answer between 14 & 15 kt (English gold). The pin measures 1 1/4" long by 3/8" wide thru the flower. A lovely pin for a collar, lapel or to group with other pins. We have a matching pearl and sapphire pin listed at this time-Item # 259.
