These suspender clips are just outrageous-I think it's amazing the decorative items they had in those days. These are so much more interesting then plain old buckle like clips! They have a wonderful shape with Art Nouveau styling of leaves and flowers on the borders. At the center top focal point I see what I am interpreting to be a stylized ram.
The sterling is in excellent condition with no rips, dents, holes, deep scratches or repairs. Those holes on the backside are original to allow heat to escape during solder work. The pattern definition is excellent minus with all pattern components very visible. The high points of the components have lost their well rounded curves. They now have a more flat top which includes the noses on both rams having dimples. Both suspenders have presentation. One has initials of "AN" with the other having a date of "1902".
The marks are located on the back of both suspenders as seen in the photo. The hatchet is the Kerr hallmark and the 1082 is the model number of the item. The front of the clips measure 1 3/8" at widest point by 1 1/8" tall.
