It just amazes me how they could do such detail in a small area. The carved lady on the carnelian is only 1/2" tall-but look at the work. When viewed w/a loop I see no chips or cracks to the stone. She has a very elaborate frame of primarily rose gold, all intact w/no missing pieces. There are 2 leafs (1 @ top-bottom) & 2 ribbon like curls (1 @ side) that are yellow & rose gold. Her pin & clasp appear to be original. It has no marks-the frame has been acid tested to verify 14kt. The center back of cameo has a memorial window. Today instead of hair you could insert a picture of that favorite baby. It's not hard to pop up & fits firmly back in place. The T shaped hole pictured in the side of the frame is on both sides. They are meant to be there! They were used to clip in a chain for making the pin into a necklace. This was a standard design used a lot on this frame style. Circa 1880. Size is 1 3/8" tall x 1 1/8" at widest point. Please read ABOUT US & TERMS OF SALE.
