Interesting rose cut pave pattern in the center of this 15 x 10mm oval amethyst. Rich thinks it's a chain link pattern with biblical meaning similar to the ring we recently sold with "the Rose of Sharon" symbol. The chain could be a symbol of an official ,of a prisoner or of a strength of belief.. But what ever it is it's a great accent to the table of the amethyst gemstone. The 12 Rose Cut diamonds are old cuts and measure approx. 1mm each in size. They are prong mounted in silver recessed channels. They are all there but it is unknown if all are original. The entire pattern measures 3/8" x 3/16". The amethyst is done in an oval cut with the pavilion having multiple facets. The surface of the amethyst does show wear to facet rims and a few surface scratches. The ring mounting is that beautiful golden color very common to the Victorian period. There is nothing thin or flimsy in the rings construction. No damage or repairs were noted, just that common surface type scuff from being worn. The ring has overall wonderful density especially the shank. Due to the density the shank is very in round. The ring measures a 6 3/4 on our size pole. The ring has no marks so Rich acid tested and will guarantee a minimum of 14K.
