This rouge pot - vaseline jar was made by Codding Bros. & Heilborn. They were in business 1879-1918. The center is a hand painted circle of delicate blue flowers with no chips/restoration. The medium emerald green is also enamel in the flow on style in a curly q - leaf sterling pattern area. It's like they would lay it on, wipe it off high points, then fire (sorry-can't remember technical name). We have cleaned top but there are still some very small specs/areas of black in this pattern area. We do not know if it is patina to sterling area or just old gunk-we do not want to force the areas to find out. The sterling lid is in excellent condition with no holes viewed when held up to light. It fits the jar but you can't pick the jar up by the lid. The glass jar is in excellent condition. it has a few normal flea nicks to rim (largest 1/32"). It has a lovely cut pattern of diamonds w/flat tops with X's in the center of each diamond. The pattern has normal flea nicks and I found 1 chip on a facet approx 1/10" long x 1/16" wide verified w/a 10 power loop. I found no cracks or restoration. Size is 2" in dia. & 1 1/2" tall. Circa 1900. Lovely colorful piece. Please read "ABOUT US" & "TERMS OF SALE" before purchasing.
