This is a large 1 & 1/2" pearl button from the 18th century--a man's button :) It has an ajoure twinkle border rimmed in tiny brilliant paste rose montees set in beeswax. The center star is not blue steel--it just looks it in one scan. The center paste has wear, pin-shanked through the body.
