This is a rare work by Karl Drerup, one of America's foremost 20th century enamelists, Limoges-style mounted in sterling silver. Drerup's works today are found mainly in museums and fine galleries, and sometimes they are found by the grace of God like this one: sheer accident. Any button collector of enamel or modern arts & crafts should be awake to Karl. Aside from that, he looked like Ryan Gosling. This 2 inch diameter slightly convex medallion is counter-enameled in granite spatter and boldly signed in the same delineation as his subject. It is in excellent condition.
