In the Greco-Roman style, this classical lady's hair is in a chignon and tamped down by a pair of diadem. They look like colored ribbon, but I think these head hoops were jewel-encrusted or bare precious metal. The hues and brush strokes of this 1 & 3/8" (NBS large) porcelain button are wonderful--the bloom isn't off the rose. The porcelain is in excellent condition with a matte finish and the mounting has no brassing. One oddity: incidental light displays the faintest of squiggles or lines on the black surface. I tried to capture them but they were faster than the speed of scanner light. They remind me of bag marks, but they could be intentional--either way, they are very hard to observe. A sturdy brass loop shank looks like a soft solder. Blondes always look so good in black.
