This mid-19th c. micromosaic depicts the pyramid of Cestius in unusual bull's blood glass (I was sure at first it was coral). There are two insignificant flakes in the red glass, shallow, and hard to see--no compromise to the stability of the setting. It has an inner cannonball border. The silver has dark natural patination that compliments the red glass. It measures 1 & 5/8" by 1 & 1/8". This is one of the Grand Tour ruins still extant. The piece is in very good condition with light surface wear.
