This is a very large 3 & 1/4 by 1 & 3/4 inches late 19th c. pendant--more like a pectoral--in excellent condition. The painting under glass is of a lovely young lady in subdued hues and fine brushstrokes signed F. Hardt. The bale is impressed Germany and Sterling. The enamel is intact but with some minor wear and tear (debris and a tiny flake on the right aqua flower). I haven't cleaned it at all and the patina is all natural from age. It is beautifully made and a lovely miniature. It's really hard to know if it is a personal portrait or a commercial piece, but it looks like a personal miniature to me.
