This 1 & 5/8 by 1 & 1/4 inches dress clip comprises a lovely mid-Victorian hand painted porcelain lady in Rose de Pompadour--a most distinctive shade of pink. Wikipedia says: "Rose Pompadour is the pink ground color invented by Sèvres in 1757." The piece was originally the center medallion of a jet bracelet. It was transformed into to a dress clip early in the 20th century. The clip is sewn onto the jet. It's in very fine condition--no chips or scratches or other unpleasant surprises.
