Lacy glass is thought to be of Bohemian origin, late 19th or early 20th century, reknown for its metallic back paint and lacy pressed front surfaces. The color layer is usually painted over with black or silver paint to preserve it. This 1 & 1/16" lacy glass button proves that vivid color is not de rigueur for a dramatically beautiful glass button! This foliate frond design reflects a lightly sepia back tone beneath brilliant golden luster faux cut steels while the linear details appear in black. The "studded" edge is crystal--and so bright in contrast. This subtle beauty is a nice spacer between the more fauve lacies :) It's in excellent condition.
