Lacy glass is thought to be of Bohemian origin, late 19th or early 20th century, reknown for its metallic back paint and lacy pressed front surfaces. The color layer is usually painted over with black or silver paint to preserve it. This 1 & 1/4" medium lacy glass button has a residual backing that looks like duct tape--I have no idea! But it is old backing, and is some kind of foil and firmly attached. The button has a delicate paisley border and all of the surface luster is bright gold against the green background. It looks like all the color is intact, because there are no "bald" or clear spots showing though without green color.
