Lacy glass is thought to be of Bohemian origin, late 19th or early 20th century, reknown for its metallic back paint and lacy pressed front surfaces.
The color layer is usually painted over with black or silver paint to preserve it. The back of this one has been repainted--not the design, just the "overcoat". It is called a tartan for the colorful deep plaid that shines up through the sunflower or daisy. The front is also embellished with bright silver luster to imitate cut steel. A collection of these is really a magnificent plate of eye candy! It measures 1 & 1/4" medium.
