I have long loved the enamel work of Susan Gifford Knopp, but this is one of my all-time favorites. I believe Sue made two, but this is the original and I know she made it either on or very soon after September 11, 2001. It reminds me of a photo I had seen of a man's head in the lower part of the image while above, a plane sliced into a building. All of that passion, fear, dread, and hope is in this piece. I think it's a masterpiece. It measures 2 & 1/8" by 1 & 3/8" and is in excellent condition. On the back, it is stamped sterling silver and SGK. The artist also cut "9/11 New York" into the surface.
